Product Information
Ethyl 2-(4-bromophenyl)-4-methylthiazole-5-carboxylate is a monomer that has been shown to have a potent gram-negative activity. It inhibits the fatty acid biosynthesis by blocking the incorporation of malonyl CoA into fatty acid chains, and leads to an accumulation of free malonyl CoA in cells. It also blocks the conversion of acetoacetyl CoA to 3-hydroxypropionate, which is important for the synthesis of branched chain amino acids. This compound can be used as an antihypertensive agent and has been shown to block the renal reabsorption of sodium ions. Ethyl 2-(4-bromophenyl)-4-methylthiazole-5-carboxylate also inhibits the production of lipopolysaccharides in gram negative bacteria, which may cause endotoxic shock in humans.
