It also reacts with acetylenedicarboxylic acid to form dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate. This chemical also undergoes alkaline hydrolysis, with the pH of 10, and reacts with methyl ester to form acetylenedicarboxylic acid methyl ester. 1-(4-Bromophenyl)-3-methylthiourea has been studied by x-ray crystallography.
