N-(3-Cyano-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrobenzo[b]thien-2-yl)-2-furancarboxamide is a peptidomimetic that inhibits the growth of cancer cells. It inhibits the binding of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) protease to its natural substrate and prevents HIV from replicating. This drug has been shown to inhibit topoisomerase I in human liver by binding to the active site and preventing ATP from binding. It also binds with high affinity to peptide chains on the surface of MCR7 cells and inhibits protein synthesis at nanomolar concentrations.
