Product Information
- 5-Iodo-1-naphthalenol
- 5-Iodo-1-naphthol
5-Iodonaphthalen-1-ol is a functionalized cyclic molecule that has been shown to be an effective stopper for the molecular structure of cyclic voltammetry. It was synthesized by reacting 5-iodonaphthalene with 1,2-diaminobenzene in the presence of copper (II) acetate. The chemical reaction produces a mixture of two isomers, 5-(2'-aminophenyl)-1H-naphthalene and 5-(2'-aminoethyl)-1H-naphthalene. The spacer moiety between the naphthalene and amine groups is hydrophobic and can be varied to produce different compounds with differing rates of diffusion. This compound also has a translational symmetry that is unambiguous, making it ideal for use in synthetic organic chemistry.
