Description:

9-Methyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidin-2-one is a heterocyclic organic compound. It has been shown to have hypoglycemic effects in rats and mice, as well as an antidiabetic effect in rabbits. 9-Methyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-[1,2]pyrido[1,2]pyrimidin-[2]one has also been shown to inhibit the HMG CoA reductase enzyme. This leads to decreased production of cholesterol and fatty acids. The biphenyl group of this drug is thought to be responsible for its potent activity against HMG CoA reductase.
