Yttrium naphthenate is a catalyst used in the production of polyolefins and other organic compounds. The reaction requires magnesium, zirconium, and diene as reactants. Yttrium naphthenate shows reactive properties when exposed to oxygen or moisture. It is also sensitive to heat and light. Yttrium naphthenate is mainly used for polymerization reactions with conjugated dienes such as butadiene, isoprene, and chloroprene. This compound has a particle size of less than 100 micrometers, which allows it to be easily processed into an organometallic powder. Yttrium naphthenate is often used in the processability of fatty acids such as stearic acid and oleic acid due to its low viscosity at high temperatures.
