AUT1 is a diploid strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It has been shown to have a spontaneous activity and expressed at high levels. AUT1 is resistant to potassium ion and autophagy induction. The mutant strain, AUT2, has a mutation in the sequence coding for sugar transport. This causes an increase in sugar transport into the cytosol, which may be related to bladder cancer. AUT1 also has sequences that are involved in signal detection, which may be related to cancerous cells.
