Product Information
4,6-Dihydroxypyrimidine-5-carbonitrile is a nitrile compound that is synthesized from the reaction of 4,6-dihydroxy-1,3,5-triazine with carbon tetrachloride in the presence of hydrochloric acid. Caffeine is a known inhibitor of this compound's uptake by cells. This chemical has been used to coat microspheres for use in diagnostic assays. Theophylline and other methylxanthines have shown to inhibit the uptake of this compound by cells. 4,6-Dihydroxypyrimidine-5-carbonitrile can be used as an intermediate for the synthesis of monomers and polymers for use in solid phase microextraction or as a sample preparation agent.
