Product Information
6-Oxa-2-azaspiro[4.5]decane is a diazo compound that can be used in the synthesis of other compounds. It is used in organic chemistry as a building block to form spirocyclic, cyclic and noncyclic molecules. The interaction of 6-oxa-2-azaspiro[4.5]decane with tetrahydrofuran has been shown to produce an expansion of the molecule's ring system through a spirocyclization reaction. This reaction can be induced by a carbene involved in the reaction, which is generated by irradiation with ultraviolet light or by treatment with elemental zinc. 6-Oxa-2-azaspiro[4.5]decane has been used as a medicinal agent for treating various diseases including hypertension, angina pectoris, and diabetes mellitus type II.
