2,8-Difluoro-5-(trifluoromethyl)-5H-dibenzo[b,d]thiophen-5-ium triflate is an activator for the addition of electron acceptors to arylsulfonyl chlorides. It is used in the synthesis of sulfones by the efficient method and can be readily converted to 2,8-difluoro-5-(trifluoromethyl)dibenzothiophene. The high yield and scalability of this reagent make it ideal for analyses and syntheses on larger scales. 2,8-Difluoro-5-(trifluoromethyl)-5H-dibenzo[b,d]thiophen-5-ium triflate has been shown to be a useful reagent for the synthesis of aromatic compounds.
