4-Oxo-1H-quinoline-3,8-dicarboxylic acid is a natural compound that inhibits the activity of CTLA-4. It has been shown to be effective in treating cancer and autoimmune diseases. This drug is also an inhibitor of multidrug resistance and has been shown to have antiviral activity against virus strains such as measles, influenza A, and HIV. The mechanism of action of 4-Oxo-1H-quinoline-3,8-dicarboxylic acid involves the binding to CTLA4 receptor on T cells and blocking its interaction with CD28 receptor. This prevents the activation of T cells by antigen presenting cells and reduces the production of inflammatory cytokines.
