Description:

(1-Pyrimidin-2-ylpiperidin-4-yl)methanol (PPIM) is a synthetic cytotoxic compound that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of colorectal adenocarcinoma. PPIM inhibits cell proliferation and induces apoptosis by binding to DNA and altering the synthesis of RNA and proteins. The cytotoxic effects of PPIM are due to its ability to inhibit the activity of regulatory proteins, such as colony stimulating factor, which can lead to a decrease in immune response and an increase in cancer progression. PPIM also binds to the mitochondria, which may be due to its ability to form disulfide bonds with cysteine residues in proteins. These bonds prevent the formation of ATP and cause acid formation, leading to cell death.
