5,12-Dihydroindolo[3,2-a]carbazole is a synthetic carbazole that has been modified to include acetylation and formylation. It has been shown to have optical properties and can be used as a component in electrochemical devices. 5,12-Dihydroindolo[3,2-a]carbazole belongs to the family of indolocarbazoles. The natural product was first isolated from the seeds of "Carica papaya" by Albert Hofmann in 1962. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects and may be useful for treating arthritis and other inflammatory conditions.
