Product Information
2-Iodo-6-methoxyphenol is a thiobarbituric acid (TBA) derivative that inhibits the activity of hydroxyl groups. It is an analog of galanthamine, which is a carbamate and has been used as an antidiabetic drug. 2-Iodo-6-methoxyphenol is synthesized by the cross coupling reaction of a chloroformate with 2-iodoaniline and methyl or ethyl bromide. The stereoselectivity in this reaction was first observed in the kinetic study of TBA derivatives. This product has shown inhibitory activities against hydroxyl groups and may be used for the synthesis of other drugs with similar activities.
