2-Pyridin-2-yl-piperazine is a research chemical that acts as a 5-HT1A receptor agonist. It has been shown to have binding affinity for the serotonin, dopamine and regulatory G protein coupled receptors. 2-Pyridin-2-yl-piperazine has been shown to increase locomotor activity in rats, and may be useful for the treatment of depression. This drug also interacts with reuptake of serotonin and dopamine, which can lead to an increased concentration of these neurotransmitters at their respective receptors. 2-Pyridin-2-yl-piperazine also has been shown to have electrophysiological effects on cells when it binds to dopamine receptor ligands.
