Product Information
(S)-(1-Methyl-2-oxo-ethyl)-carbamic acid benzyl ester (DMEB) is a chiral, nucleophilic, catalytic reductive amination reagent. It is used for the synthesis of enantiomerically pure amines from aldehydes and primary amines. DMEB can be used in the presence of an acid or base catalyst to form an enamine through reductive amination, which is then hydrolyzed to form the desired secondary amine. This reagent has been shown to react with both electron rich and electron poor aldehydes, as well as various types of nucleophiles including alcohols, thiols, carboxylic acids and nitriles.
The major use of DMEB is in the synthesis of chiral aminoaldehydes that are used as building blocks for drug discovery programs.
