Product Information
Methyl 6-(3,5-dichlorophenyl)pyridine-2-carboxylate is a molecule with the molecular formula C8H6Cl2O2. This compound belongs to the class of benzophenones and has a crystal structure that can be described as orthorhombic, with dihedral angles of approximately 90°. The molecule consists of two benzene rings connected by a single carbon bond. Benzene rings are held together by six hydrogen bonds, three π bonds, and one σ bond. The 3-hydroxybenzophenone group is located on one end of the molecule and forms hydrogen bonds with the other benzene ring. The steric interactions between methyl groups and chlorine atoms lead to conformations in which the bonding group is not perpendicular to the plane of the molecule. In this way, metastable dimers are created that have an orthorhombic crystal structure.
