Imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-8-carbonitrile is an anthranilic compound that has been shown to induce cancer cell death by triggering apoptosis. Imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-8-carbonitrile also has a molecular weight of 254.33 and a melting point of 222°C. This drug disrupts the mitochondrial membrane potential and causes the release of cytochrome c and other proteins into the cytosol. Imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-8-carbonitrile has been shown to inhibit the growth of human colorectal cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. It also inhibits mkn-45, which is a protein that regulates cell proliferation and survival.
