Tyrphostin Rg 14620 is a small molecule which inhibits the growth of cancer cells by targeting their specific intracellular targets. It binds to epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptors on the surface of skin cells, preventing EGF from binding and initiating cell proliferation. Tyrphostin Rg 14620 has been shown to be effective in treating skin cancers, as well as other cancers that have been associated with the EGFR pathway. The drug also has been shown to increase the activity of pluripotent cells, such as stem cells, in vitro by inhibiting phosphodiesterase activity.
