1H-Indole-5-carbonyl chloride is an inhibitor of the enzyme squalene epoxidase, which catalyzes the oxidation of squalene to form squalene peroxide. 1H-Indole-5-carbonyl chloride has been shown to have synergistic effects with monolaurin and sodium lactate in inhibiting the growth of cancer cells. This compound also has inhibitory properties on mitochondrial membrane potential, enzyme activities, and autoimmune diseases. It is a model system for studying guanine nucleotide binding proteins. The optimum concentration for this compound is 0.1 mM.
