Product Information
- S-Benzyl-N-Acetyl-D-Cysteine
- D-Benzylmercapturic Acid
N-Acetyl-S-benzyl-D-cysteine is a metabolite of benzene in urine. It is used as an analytical marker for the presence of benzene, and can be detected using spectrometric methods. N-Acetyl-S-benzyl-D-cysteine is formed by the oxidation of S-phenylmercapturic acid catalyzed by cytochrome P450 enzymes. The concentration of this metabolite in urine is linearly related to the amount of exposure to benzene. This product can be used as an analytical tool to measure levels of exposure to benzene and other substances that may cause similar reactions, such as metal ions or drugs.
