3-(1H-1,2,3-Triazol-1-yl)phenol is a chemosensor that forms a complex with anions such as chloride. The enhanced reactivity of the anion leads to the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). These ROS are capable of inducing DNA damage and cell death. 3-(1H-1,2,3-Triazol-1-yl)phenol has been shown to have significant antiproliferative activity in MCF7 cells and Styrene. It also has antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and methicillin resistant S. aureus (MRSA). 3-(1H-1,2,3-Triazol-1-yl)phenol can be conjugated to other molecules for use as anticancer drugs.
