(2R,3R)-3-Fluoropyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid is a hydrogen bond donor that can be used for the treatment of chronic pulmonary diseases. It has been shown to have amide and hydroxyl group substitutions on the pyrrolidine ring. This compound is a fluorinated analog of glucose and has been shown to inhibit collagen degradation in animals. (2R,3R)-3-Fluoropyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid binds to collagen in heart tissue and may reduce the risk of atherosclerosis by inhibiting uptake of lipoproteins into cells.
