1,3-dimethyl-6H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridin-6-one is an inhibitor of GSK3 that has been used in pharmaceutical formulations. Its effects on the central nervous system include the inhibition of symptoms of Alzheimer's disease and cancer. 1,3-dimethyl-6H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridin-6-one inhibits the activity of GSK3 by binding to its active site and blocking the catalytic site and ATP binding site. The compound also inhibits insulin signaling pathways, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of insulin by pancreatic β cells. This process leads to a decrease in blood glucose levels and increased insulin sensitivity in fat cells. 1,3-dimethyl-6H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridin-6-one has been shown to inhibit cancer cell proliferation by inhibiting cell cycle
