2-Bromo-N-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)acetamide is a selective PPARδ agonist that has been shown to increase fatty acid oxidation in human myotubes. This drug also induces the expression of PPARγ and other genes that are involved in fatty acid oxidation. In addition, 2-bromo-N-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)acetamide increases the rate of oxidative metabolism of peroxisomes and pyruvate dehydrogenase. These changes result in an upregulation of these enzymes and an increased rate of fatty acid oxidation.
