Description:
Pyrasulfotole-desmethyl is a natural antibiotic that is used to treat a variety of bacterial and protozoal infections. It was originally isolated from the fungus, Penicillium pyrasum, and has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis in bacteria. Pyrasulfotole-desmethyl also exhibits antiviral activity against HIV and herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) by inhibiting viral DNA synthesis. This compound is manufactured synthetically for commercial use.
