Description:
1-[(4-Methylphenyl)sulfonyl]-5-(trifluoromethyl)-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine is a potent inhibitor of the human kinase Cx43. It has been shown to inhibit locomotor activity in mice and rats and inhibits the production of dopamine in vitro. The inhibition of dopamine production by 1-[(4-methylphenyl)sulfonyl]-5-(trifluoromethyl)-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine is due to its ability to bind to the active site of the enzyme catechol O-methyltransferase which converts dopamine into 3-O-methyldopa.
