Product Information
Sodium trifluoroacetate (STFA) is an aliphatic hydrocarbon that is a derivative of piperazine. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of inflammatory diseases and is used as a topical agent for the treatment of skin cancer. STFA has also been shown to be effective in the treatment of chronic bronchitis, as it can inhibit inflammation by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. STFA has been shown to have high values for water vapor transmission rates and is used in wastewater treatment systems. It reacts with trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) in a 1:2 molar ratio to form sodium trifluoroacetate TFA salt, which is soluble in water. The reaction mechanism for this reaction proceeds through an SN2-type displacement reaction whereby one or more hydrogen atoms are removed from the substrate molecule.
