Dimethachlor oxalic acid-d6 is a biodegradable, activated compound that is used in wastewater treatment. It is the most widely used activated compound for the removal of organic pollutants from water and wastewater. Dimethachlor oxalic acid-d6 functions by adsorption to organic matter and subsequent degradation by bacteria. It has been shown to be effective in removing triazine herbicides, carbamazepine, amide herbicides, sulfamethoxazole, and resistant microorganisms from water. Dimethachlor oxalic acid-d6 can also degrade carcinogenic compounds such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).
