Potassium 2-methoxypyrimidine-5-trifluoroborate (KMTB) is a potassium channel opener that can be used to treat chronic kidney failure. KMTB has been shown to increase the glomerular filtration rate and improve the function of neurons in rat models of chronic renal failure. It also regulates glucose levels by increasing the number of granule neurons and regulating potassium channels. KMTB is being investigated for its potential as a treatment for cardiac and cation channel disorders, such as atrial fibrillation.
