2-Acetamido-3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-2-deoxy-a-D-galactopyranosyl chloride is a chemical compound that can be obtained by the reaction of acetamidomalonic acid with chloral hydrate. This product is soluble in water and has a crystalline form. It reacts with thiols or arylthiols to form disulfides and thioglycosides. 2-Acetamido-3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-2-deoxy-a-D-galactopyranosyl chloride is also used as an intermediate for the preparation of 1,5,-anhydrofructose. It is used as a catalyst for transfer hydrogenation reactions and phase transfer catalysis.
