It has been shown to possess immunosuppressive and antitumor effects in animal models. 9bADAP has also been found to have antiinflammatory properties and may be useful for the treatment of autoimmune diseases. Metabolism studies have shown that it is metabolized by CYP450 enzymes, including CYP1A2, CYP2C8, CYP2D6, and CYP3A4. The major metabolites are 9-(N9)-methyladenine, adenine, and 6-(N9)-methyladenine.
