Product Information

Name:
Cadmium arsenide
Synonyms:
  • Arsenic(-3) Anion
  • Cadmium arsenide (Cd3As2)
  • Cadmium arsenide (Cd3As2)
  • Cadmium(+2) Cation
  • Tricadmium diarsenide
Description:

Cadmium arsenide is a semiconductor with an energy gap of 1.4 eV. It has a high resistivity and a high melting point, which makes it difficult to melt or evaporate. Cadmium arsenide is used in the manufacture of light emitting diodes (LEDs) and laser diodes. This material has been studied by electron microscopy, x-ray absorption spectroscopy, and coherent neutron scattering. Evaporating cadmium arsenide results in the formation of cadmium sulfide (CdS). It has also been studied as a potential drug for treating the pandemic covid-19 virus.
