Product Information
- Trizinc Arsenic(-3) Anion
- Trizinc diarsenide
- Zinc arsenide (Zn3As2)
Zinc arsenide is a semiconductor with a range of properties that make it suitable for use in optical devices and as a material in nanowires. Zn3As2 has anisotropic thermal expansion and can be accessed by tunneling, which means that electrons can pass through it without being scattered. The optical absorption is high at the band gap energy and decreases gradually with increasing photon energy. Covid-19 pandemic has shown that Zn3As2 has potential applications as a photodetector in monitoring devices, as well as for nanoscale sensing and imaging. In addition to its optical properties, Zn3As2 has transport properties that are more favourable than silicon, making it attractive for use in electronic devices such as transistors.
