Description:

Tantalum nitride is a semiconductor material that is used in the manufacture of capacitors and resistors. Tantalum nitride is a reactive material that reacts with hydrochloric acid to form tantalum and hydrogen gas. Tantalum nitride has been shown to be an efficient photocatalyst for the production of hydrogen gas from water. This process involves a redox reaction between tantalum and nitrogen atoms, which results in the release of electrons. The release of electrons leads to a frequency shift in the x-ray diffraction data, which can be observed using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Tantalum nitride has also been shown to have high resistance when measured by EIS, indicating that it could be used as an electrode material in batteries.
