Niobium diselenide is a solid-state material that has been used to produce thin films of high quality. Niobium diselenide is made from electrochemical reactions between zirconium oxide and sodium carbonate, which produces insoluble niobium carbonate. The product is then heated to remove the carbonate and leave behind a pure niobium selenide film. These films are produced in a variety of shapes, such as rods or foil sheets, and can be exfoliated into nanosheets with thicknesses ranging from 1-100 nm. Niobium diselenide exhibits good thermal stability and chemical reactivity, with a melting point of 1615°C and boiling point of 3270°C. Niobium diselenide also has an expansion coefficient (α) of 2.3x10^-5 K-1 at room temperature, which makes it useful for many applications including semiconductor devices, ferroelectric
