Strontium acetylacetonate hydrate is an organic solvent that is also used as an insulator. It has a low melting point and can be mixed with other compounds to form a paste. Strontium acetylacetonate hydrate can be used to produce light emission in electronics, and it is also used to make coatings for semiconductors. It reacts quickly with hydrochloric acid, forming strontium chloride and acetic acid. This compound is also used in the production of biodiesel, where it replaces methanol. The chemical structure of this compound has been determined using nmr spectra.
