Rockpahos is an analog of the anti-estrogen drug tamoxifen that has been modified to inhibit estrogen receptor activity and reduce the risk of cancer. Rockpahos inhibits the binding of estrogens to their receptors by competitively binding to estrogen receptors in breast cancer cells. It also has a nitro group, which lowers the risk of liver toxicity. Rockpahos can be used to treat autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn's disease. The primary alcohols in this molecule are susceptible to reductive elimination reactions, which may be useful for synthesizing other molecules with similar functional groups.
