Bromoconduritol is a monoclonal antibody which binds to the IL-2 receptor. This antibody has been shown to be effective in the treatment of autoimmune diseases, such as arthritis. Bromoconduritol is used clinically to determine the presence of oligosaccharides in tissue culture and as a reagent for measuring cellular glucosylceramide levels. It also inhibits autophagy and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. Bromoconduritol is used in tissue culture experiments to inhibit autophagy, which prevents cells from breaking down their own components and leads to cell death. The drug also has anti-inflammatory properties due to its ability to inhibit the production of prostaglandins.
