1,2-Propanediol, 1-benzoate is a biodegradable monobenzoate and benzoate ester of 1,2-propanediol. It has been shown to be both reactive and biodegradable. This product is typically used as a solvent in the manufacture of polylactic acid. It also has a skin care application where it can react with other chemicals to form water-soluble esters. The viscosity of 1,2-propanediol, 1-benzoate increases with increasing temperature stability and molecular weight. This product has been shown to have a residue that is less than 5000 ppm.
