Adinazolam is a benzodiazepine that has been found to be effective in the treatment of depression. Adinazolam is metabolized by human liver microsomes and excreted in urine as conjugates, mainly glucuronides. The pharmacokinetic properties of adinazolam are extensively investigated, and are found to be similar to other benzodiazepines. Sprague-Dawley rats were used to study the locomotor activity of adinazolam, which was found to be dose-dependent with an increase in locomotor activity observed at higher doses. Urine samples from humans have also been used to study the binding of adinazolam to its receptor sites. Logistic regression analysis showed that there was a significant correlation between clinical response and plasma concentration for this drug. Clinical studies have shown that adinazolam is an effective anxiolytic drug with few side effects when administered at low doses (2mg).
