Product Information
- Dithiobisphenyl azide
- 4-Azidophenyl disulfide (4,4-dithiobis-(phenylazide))
- 1,1'-Disulfanediylbis(4-Azidobenzene)
Dithiobis(phenylazide) is an analog of dithiobis(methylene) and is used as a proton transport agent for the treatment of cervical cancer. It has been shown to be a more efficient method than other analogs, such as bis-dithiocarbamates, due to its ability to bind to the peptide region of the target molecule. Dithiobis(phenylazide) binds to nitrogen atoms in proteins in order to inhibit protein synthesis, which leads to cell death. The synthesis of dithiobis(phenylazide) can be accomplished by reacting phenylamine with sodium azide in aqueous solution and then converting it into its disulfide form with hydrogen sulfide.
