3-Phenyl-8-Azabicyclo[3.2.1]Octan-3-Ol is a ligand that binds to the opioid receptor, which is found in the central and peripheral nervous system. It is used as a medication for its ability to bind to the opioid receptor and block pain sensations. 3-Phenyl-8-Azabicyclo[3.2.1]Octan-3-Ol binds to mu, delta, and kappa opioid receptors with similar affinity, but it has 10 times more affinity for mu receptors than for delta or kappa receptors. It also inhibits dopamine release in the mesolimbic region of the brain and has been shown to attenuate cocaine self administration in rats.
