(S)-Methyl 2-amino-2-phenylacetate ee is an enantiomer of the amino acid L-methionine and a metabolite of the drug aminopropiophenone. The ester hydrochloride salt of (S)-methyl 2-amino-2-phenylacetate ee is used as a reagent in organic synthesis, as well as a precursor to other compounds. It is also used in cancer research because it has been shown to bind nucleophilic substitutions and hydrogen bond interactions with prostate cancer cells.
