Product Information

Name:
N-(2-Pyridylmethyl)glycine Ethyl Ester
Synonyms:
  • N-(2-Pyridylmethyl)glycine ethyl ester
  • ethyl N-(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)glycinate
Description:

N-(2-Pyridylmethyl)glycine Ethyl Ester is a ligand that binds to the active site of metallo-β-lactamase. It has been synthesized and shown to have high affinity for the enzyme, as well as high catalytic activity. N-(2-Pyridylmethyl)glycine Ethyl Ester may be useful in the treatment of bacterial infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). This ligand binds to the catalytic site of β-lactamases, which are enzymes that break down penicillin and other β-lactam antibiotics. The tripodal coordination of this ligand may be responsible for its high affinity and catalytic activity.
