Product Information

Name:
p-Xylylene Dithiocyanate
Description:

p-Xylylene Dithiocyanate (PDTC) is a chemical that has been shown to inhibit tumor development in animals and humans. PDTC inhibits the growth of carcinoma cells by damaging DNA, inhibiting enzyme activities, and inhibiting cell division. It has been shown to inhibit the production of enzymes that are involved in carcinogenesis, such as nitrosamines, nitric oxide synthase, and glutathione S-transferases. PDTC also inhibits the synthesis of proteins involved in carcinogenesis such as p53 protein and cyclooxygenase 2. The inhibition of these enzymes leads to decreased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which are implicated in cancer development.
PDTC is an analog for selenium compounds and can be used as a dietary supplement for cancer prevention or treatment.
