Description:
1,2:4,6-Di-O-isopropylidene-a-L-sorbofuranose is a synthetic glycoside that can be used as a carbohydrate in the synthesis of oligosaccharides and polysaccharides. It can be methylated at the C1 position to form 1,2:4,6-di-O-methylidene-a-L-sorbofuranose and then glycosylated with various saccharides at the O3 position. Fluorination of this compound at the C2 position yields 1,2:4,6-diO-(trifluoromethyl)idenea L sorbofuranose. This product has a melting point of 178°C.
