O-(3-Chloroallyl)hydroxylamine is a reactive chemical that has both exothermic and endothermic reactions. It is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of herbicides, medicines, and other organic compounds. O-(3-Chloroallyl)hydroxylamine can be prepared by reacting carboxylic acid chlorides with hydroxylamine sulfate using sodium hydroxide as a catalyst. This reaction occurs at room temperature and has a high yield. The kinetics of this reaction are influenced by the size of the alkali metal atom. O-(3-Chloroallyl)hydroxylamine is more reactive than hydroxylamine sulfate because it has a higher affinity for electron density on sulfur atoms.
