Product Information
Ceramide phosphoethanolamine is a sphingolipid that is involved in the regulation of cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. It also plays a role in neurodevelopment. Studies have shown that Ceramide phosphoethanolamine is expressed in the developing brain and localized to areas such as the geniculate nucleus and neuroepithelia. Ceramide phosphoethanolamine has been shown to be neuroprotective against reactive oxygen species in vitro. When administered orally to rats, it can cross the blood-brain barrier and increase levels of messenger RNA for genes associated with brain development.
