Halofenozide is a synthetic ecdysteroid that has biological properties. It appears to affect the protein synthesis of insects, and is active in dry weight, nitrogen atoms, and particle size. Halofenozide has been shown to be effective against pests such as the black cutworm (Agrotis ipsilon) and the corn earworm (Heliothis zea). Halofenozide also affects mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase activity in Galleria mellonella larvae. This drug has been used for the control of pest insects in agriculture, horticulture, and forestry.
